- IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- ---------------------------
- Poser 3 is a 3D figure animation tool for the creation of images, movies and models
- that can be incorporated into graphics, video and 3D projects. Poser 3's new human and
- animal models come with positionable faces and hands. For a full description of new
- features in Poser 3 check out the printed User Manual or the PDF version on this CD.
-
- Practice these three basic caveats with Poser 3 to enhance your overall
- experience and productivity-
- 1. Click on an Edit Tool to select it, then click and drag a BODY PART to
- manipulate that part only.
- 2. Click and Drag on the Edit Tool icon to manipulate the ENTIRE FIGURE.
- 3. Use all tools in SMALL MOTIONS rather than large motions and results
- will be much more predictable.
-
-
- The default figure when you create a new file is a Poser 2 figure. Replacing this
- figure with one the "People" figures in the Figures Library will enable all the new
- model functionality of Poser 3 including facial expressions. Instructions for changing
- figures are in the Quick Reference Card and the Poser 3 Manual.
-
- Be sure to visit the Poser resource section of our web site at
- www.metacreations.com/products/poser3/resources2.html for more information and tips
- about working with Poser 3. You'll also find our Advanced Animation Techniques User
- Manual, downloadable free at the site. This manual covers topics such as Character
- Creation, Bending Parameters and integration of Poser 3 into Ray Dream Studio 5 and
- Bryce 3D.
-
- On the CD, you'll find a Poser Links file that can be read in your internet browser.
- It provides links to the MetaCreations web site as well as several third party
- developers that may be of interest.
-
- The Quick Reference Card is a very important resource to use in conjunction with Poser 3.
- It lists numerous shortcuts and keystrokes to save time and enhance functionality.
-
- Sound file types supported by Poser 3 are WAV Sound files.
-
- In the interface Camera Controls, the small previews which by default display the
- Face Camera, Right Hand camera and Left Hand camera, can be used to store your current
- camera choice by ALT Clicking on the small preview. This allows you to quickly click
- to get to your favorite cameras.

- COMMON PROBLEMS & SOLUTIONS
- ----------------------------
-
- - Rendering to a new window with a background image will not work properly if
- your screen is not set for 32 bit (True Color)
-
- - If you run Poser 3 in 640x480 screen resolutions, set your Windows Taskbar to
- "Autohide" in the Taskbar's properties controls.
-
- - To save disc space don't install the tutorial unless you need it. During your
- initial installation of Poser 3 you can choose Customize to tailor Poser 3 for your needs.
-
- - If you install Poser 3 into a drive other than the default "C" drive, be sure to create
- a directory folder on that drive which will be used to contain Poser 3's files.
- If you do not create this directory folder, the installer will place Poser's files
- in the root directory of the drive and which can be problematic.
-
- - Posable hands and facial controls are only on the Poser "People" figures. Once
- one of these figures has been loaded into your studio, selecting the figure's Head
- will reveal the facial control dials. Selecting the Hand will reveal several global
- controls for all the fingers and thumb allowing grasping and stretching. The Poser 2
- default figure in your new document window does not have facial controls and posable hands.
-
- - The Figure Height settings and body part scales may produce erratic results when
- applied to the new Poser 3 "People" and "Animal" models. Scaling the whole figure
- may produce better results.
-
- - If you switch between various animals, it's advisable to use
- 'Edit Menu: Restore: Figure' to get the animal model into it's default state
-
- - When you first open the Walk Designer, a delay will occur as the walk animations
- are being loaded. Each time after the first, opening the Walk Designer is much quicker.
-
- - To turn on Constant Interpolation between keyframes, pressing the Shift and C keys
- simultaneously will convert selected keyframes. For more information on Interpolation,
- refer to the User Manual.
-
- - 999 Frames is the maximum limit of frames displayed in the Animation Controls,
- although animations of any frame length can be created.
-
- ----------------------------
- MANUAL ERRATA
- ----------------------------
-
- - Hierarchy files are referred to in the User Manual as either .txt or .hier file types.
- The correct designation of hierarchy file type is .phi. Examples of these file types are
- included on the CD in the "Sample Files" folder inside "Cool Stuff In Here!" These
- can be viewed in any text editing program that will open "any" file.
-
- - Pages 115-116 in the printed Poser 3 User Manual incorrectly state that the
- Editing Tools can be used to control cameras.
-
- - Texture templates are referred to as being part of the installed application.
- Texture templates can only be found on the Poser 3 CD-ROM in the "Cool Stuff In Here!"
- folder.
-
- - The "Tutorial Guy" referred to in the Tutorial, is now called "Tutorial Man".
- There is no change in the model, just the name.
