  21. Poser 3 is a 3D figure animation tool for the creation of images, movies and models 
  22. that can be incorporated into graphics, video and 3D projects. Poser 3's new human and 
  23. animal models come with positionable faces and hands. For a full description of new 
  24. features in Poser 3 check out the printed User Manual or the PDF version on this CD.
  25.  
  26. Practice these three basic caveats with Poser 3 to enhance your overall 
  27. experience and productivity-
  28.      1.  Click on an Edit Tool to select it, then click and drag a BODY PART to 
  29. manipulate that part only.
  30.      2.  Click and Drag on the Edit Tool icon to manipulate the ENTIRE FIGURE.
  31.      3.  Use all tools in SMALL MOTIONS rather than large motions and results 
  32. will be much more predictable.

  35. The default figure when you create a new file is a Poser 2 figure. Replacing this 
  36. figure with one the "People" figures in the Figures Library will enable all the new 
  37. model functionality of Poser 3 including facial expressions. Instructions for changing 
  38. figures are in the Quick Reference Card and the Poser 3 Manual.

  47. On the CD, you'll find a Poser Links file that can be read in your internet browser. 
  48. It provides links to the MetaCreations web site as well as several third party 
  49. developers that may be of interest.

  51. The Quick Reference Card is a very important resource to use in conjunction with Poser 3. 
  52. It lists numerous shortcuts and keystrokes to save time and enhance functionality.

  54. Sound file types supported by Poser 3 are WAV Sound files.
  55.  
  56. In the interface Camera Controls, the small previews which by default display the 
  57. Face Camera, Right Hand camera and Left Hand camera, can be used to store your current
  58. camera choice by ALT Clicking on the small preview. This allows you to quickly click 
  59. to get to your favorite cameras.

  62. COMMON PROBLEMS & SOLUTIONS

  65. - Rendering to a new window with a background image will not work properly if
  66. your screen is not set for 32 bit (True Color)
  67.  
  68. - If you run Poser 3 in 640x480 screen resolutions, set your Windows Taskbar to 
  69. "Autohide" in the Taskbar's properties controls.
  70.  
  71. - To save disc space don't install the tutorial unless you need it. During your 
  72. initial installation of Poser 3 you can choose Customize to tailor Poser 3 for your needs.
  73.  
  74. - If you install Poser 3 into a drive other than the default "C" drive, be sure to create 
  75. a directory folder on that drive which will be used to contain Poser 3's files. 
  76. If you do not create this directory folder, the installer will place Poser's files 
  77. in the root directory of the drive and which can be problematic.
  78.  
  79. - Posable hands and facial controls are only on the Poser "People" figures. Once 
  80. one of these figures has been loaded into your studio, selecting the figure's Head 
  81. will reveal the facial control dials. Selecting the Hand will reveal several global 
  82. controls for all the fingers and thumb allowing grasping and stretching. The Poser 2 
  83. default figure in your new document window does not have facial controls and posable hands.

  85. - The Figure Height settings and body part scales may produce erratic results when 
  86. applied to the new Poser 3 "People" and "Animal" models. Scaling the whole figure 
  87. may produce better results.
  88.  
  89. - If you switch between various animals, it's advisable to use 
  90. 'Edit Menu: Restore: Figure' to get the animal model into it's default state
  91.  
  92. - When you first open the Walk Designer, a delay will occur as the walk animations 
  93. are being loaded. Each time after the first, opening the Walk Designer is much quicker.
  94.  
  95. - To turn on Constant Interpolation between keyframes, pressing the Shift and C keys 
  96. simultaneously will convert selected keyframes. For more information on Interpolation, 
  97. refer to the User Manual.
  98.  
  99. - 999 Frames is the maximum limit of frames displayed in the Animation Controls, 
  100. although animations of any frame length can be created.

  106. - Hierarchy files are referred to in the User Manual as either .txt or .hier file types. 
  107. The correct designation of hierarchy file type is .phi. Examples of these file types are 
  108. included on the CD in the "Sample Files" folder inside "Cool Stuff In Here!" These 
  109. can be viewed in any text editing program that will open "any" file.
  110.  
  111. - Pages 115-116 in the printed Poser 3 User Manual incorrectly state that the 
  112. Editing Tools can be used to control cameras.
  113.  
  114. - Texture templates are referred to as being part of the installed application. 
  115. Texture templates can only be found on the Poser 3 CD-ROM in the "Cool Stuff In Here!" 
  116. folder.
  117.  
  118. - The "Tutorial Guy" referred to in the Tutorial, is now called "Tutorial Man". 
  119. There is no change in the model, just the name.
